Garnet 10 - Scrapbook Steals

This is my take on the Scrapbook Steals sketch Garnet 10. Now since I've done all ten in this series (as usual), I am entered to win a big prize! This time it is a "Cinch" tool, which binds small books together. I've always wanted one of these, so am REALLY wanting random.org to pick me!!!

Scrapbook Steals - Garnet #9

My favourite shopping place for scrapbook supplies is www.scrapbooksteals.com. With deals as good as these, I don't know how scrapbook stores stay in business!

I stumbled across Scrapbook Steals when a friend of mine "liked" it on Facebook in August of 2010. They have an amazing sketch designer/scrapbook artist (the wonderful Kristy Lee) who does a weekly sketch on Wednesday. I've done ALL of her sketches, and I think there's been about 82 so far.

Each group of 10 sketches is named after a gem. Finish all 10 and you're entered to win in an extra prize!

This is the most recent one, Garnet #9

This one was perfect for a "challenge" I'm doing this year. You take 12 photos on the 12th day for 12 months in the year 2012. It made me scrapbook about the "boring" ordinary day, but I have a feeling that this is the kind of thing I'll be happy to have documented 20 years down the road.

Sketch Inspiration - #306

Finished this one just in the nick of time. I really REALLY liked the prize offered this time, and turns out I even liked the sketch!

The sketch:

My interpretation:

I love blue and brown, and I love portrait pages!

Paper Girls Challenge Blog - Challenge 1

A few scrappy friends of mine started a scrapbooking challenge blog. My children challenge my energy, life in general challenges my physicality, so why not challenge my creativity once I have an hour to myself in the evening. Chores can wait...right?

It's exciting to me that I am following a scrapbook site right from the beginning! Their first challenge was a sketch challenge. They post a drawing like this:

...and you turn it into something like this:

See the resemblance? It doesn't have to be EXACTLY the same, it just has to INSPIRE you to create your work of art.

This is my favourite way of scrapbooking. Most of you know that when the kids come into your life, the brain cells leave your life. Sketches take most of the logistic thinking out of scrapbooking and just lets your creativity take over (and also makes the process quicker)!

Hope the Paper Girls have a successful run in their blogeer (blog career?) and I look forward to their bi-weekly challenges!

Return to the Blog World

Before I had kids, I used to blog a lot on The Roth Spot. I had time for it. Now I find that in my spare time, I'd rather be scrapbooking, so my creative writing went by the wayside. Truth be told, I don't even know how to log into my old blog to update it! It has been 2 years since I've even looked at it, after all.

So here I am, starting a new one, that will mostly be artwork from my ethical addiction...scrapbooking. I enter lots of contests, and it will mainly be a way of having all my work in the same place. I hope to occasionally tell a story of crazy life with 2 boys, as my life is...how should I say it...entertaining...

So here goes. Welcome to my Ethical Addiction!
